Regarding Cheques going to Agents or Performers
/Commercials. An ACTRA Business Representative writes:
“ACTRA is not bound by the terms of the contract between members and their agents and will direct payments under its control (PRS payments, NCA payments) according to the member’s instructions. Contact ACTRA Toronto Member Services to change your instructions regarding cheque direction.”
For many years, performers have had the option to have their commercial cheques sent directly to their agent. We require performers to complete and sign a form to that effect that is kept in their record at ACTRA.
Film and TV. An ACTRA Business Representative writes:
“When you book a role in a project, the contract is between the Production and the Performer. These are IPA (Independent Production Agreement) contracts that are completed by Production and sent to the Performer (or their agent) for review and signature.
Depends on the contract that you have with your agent. If a Performer has not given Power of Attorney to their agent, they should be the ones signing the contract.”
