Deliberate practice.

For many years I have characterized my training work as ‘proper practice’.

Some of the ideas in my practice come from Geoff Colvin’s book: Talent Is Overrated where he cites Anders Ericsson’s idea of ‘deliberate practice’.

  • designed specifically to improve performance, with a teacher’s help

  • it can be repeated a lot

  • you receive feedback on results

  • it is highly demanding mentally

  • it isn’t much fun
